Overview: Conflict can seem really difficult and is often something we try to avoid, but in reality conflict is an opportunity for us to communicate our needs and practice compassion towards one another. In this session, you will learn what conflict is, the various conflict management styles and how to manage and resolve conflict. Learning outcomes: Describe conflict, including the benefits of conflict for relationships Understand conflict management styles Recognize one’s own conflict management style Discuss strategies for managing and resolving conflict Apply conflict management to a novel situation Biography: Dana Linnell, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is the program director for the MS in Applied I/O Psychology program and regularly teaches Interpersonal Effectiveness Training, which provides students with the knowledge and skills to be more effective communicators in their personal and professional lives.
